Cellular Backup & Internet Backup

Currently, most security and fire systems rely on above-ground phone lines. Consequently, phone service interruptions can prevent communication between your alarm system and the central station. The phone lines communicate alarm events to the central monitoring station. In the event of an alarm, your alarm system sends a signal through your phone line. Therefore, if your phone line isn’t working, your alarm system can’t contact the central station. In other words, there is a break in your link to safety if your phone line is not operating.

The system will switch to the cellular backup unit if the alarm panel does not detect a dial tone, . Then the back-up unit will make a “cell phone call” to the network. Next, the network forwards the signal to the central station. Ultimately, if Internet service AND phone service is down, the alarm system will still be able to communicate.
